Namibia’s President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has delivered an important message at the Third Russia–Africa Summit in Moscow, challenging African countries and Russia to move beyond political declarations and build partnerships that deliver real economic benefits for ordinary Africans.

Speaking at the summit on October 29, 2026, the Namibian president called for stronger economic cooperation, increased trade, technology transfer, skills development, industrialisation and investment that can create jobs and improve people’s livelihoods.

Her message was clear: Africa needs practical results from its international partnerships.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted several important priorities

Nandi-Ndaitwah also pointed to Russia–Africa trade reaching approximately $27 billion in 2025, saying Namibia wants to see trade expand through joint ventures, skills transfer and partnerships that benefit both sides.

Her remarks raise an important question: Is Africa finally moving from political friendship towards economic partnerships that deliver tangible results?

What should African leaders demand from Russia, China, Europe and other international partners?

Should Africa prioritise technology transfer, local manufacturing, industrialisation and job creation instead of depending mainly on imported finished products?
